So I started AoT a while back and dropped it for a bit but recently picked it up again and just finished the second season of the anime. Could anyone explain to me the “to you 2000 years in the future” thing without spoiling stuff? Has it already been explained or will it be explained later?
What's on your mind?

They really knew how to throw a curveball and to up the stakes from season 1! If you have not read the manga then that talking, scheming and hairy Titan really throws you for a loop. https://dexterdiscuss.wordpress.com/2019/10/13/attack-on-titan-season-2-episode-1-discussion-beast-tita/
So, I find myself in this awkward phase right now where I am still at a loss for words but at the same time I want to scream to the whole world and tell them how I am in awe of Isayama and this latest chapter of the SNK manga... Thus, this may not be one of my most eloquent posts and I beg your pardon in advance. I've just got to rave about the brilliance of Chapter 122 and about what some of my speculations are so far. xDd
First of all, the probability of Eren still being alive just skyrocketed. Thank you, Isayama! I hope nothing goes wrong here, which is still a possibility unfortunately, because whenever things can go wrong in SNK, they usually do. I just hope that this one time everyone would just stay out of Eren's way and let him do what he is gonna do. No one is allowed to kill him. I mean it!
Secondly, this is very malicious of me, but I hope Gabi is too close to Eren's transforming titan and gets fried like Falco's brother... This sounded really bad when I put my feelings into words. Let me correct that - if Gabi doesn't die, then at least let her experience such shock and PTSD that she gets benched forever, I hope she takes Reiner with her - he can stay by her bedside or whatever. I've been seriously fed up with these two for far too long. I mean, come on, Isayama - I've been waiting... all this time... for someone... to kill Reiner! xDd
Thirdly, the small-scale rumbling has started and the world or a part of it is most probably about to be flattened as per the wishes of Eren and Ymir to put an end to their suffering and, thus, to this world. After all, Eren said it himself in chapter 121 - if someone takes away his freedom, he won't hesitate to take theirs (along with their lives); and the whole world is trying to take his freedom, so they've got it coming, don't they?! However, to be fair, I'm not really sure Eren and Ymir really intend on flattening the whole world and I am not only talking about sparing Paradis because their people are there. I think that "I'll put an end to this world" could mean something different from "I'll obliterate this world". It could mean "I'll change this world into a new, better world, thus putting an end to the current one - the one envisioned by the true villain of SNK, i.e. the first Eldian Tribal Leader/King Fritz who kept Ymir as a slave in life and death". How Eren would go about changing the world, though?! This, I really don't know and can't wait to find out.
*Just a quick intermission here - what if that first Eldian Tribal Leader/King Fritz is actually the source of the Earthen Devil myth?! I mean, look at his crown with the horns - a faithful visual depiction. And he is the only one that can be seen as making a deal with Ymir - a young child who has known only slavery could not very well rise up against this man despite the unrivaled power she gained, so she went back to him to do what she knows, i.e. serve him, and he allowed it. She gave him her "apple" as referring to the original sin, earthly pleasures and fertility (ugh, just saying that makes my hair stand on end, knowing that teenage Ymir cannot deny this old disgusting brute...).
So, to get back to what I was talking about before this intermission - destroying the world seems like the most obvious path to take. But then most people, especially the pacifist Armin, would really admonish Eren if he goes for the option of the-whole-world-go-bye-bye... haha... xDd I don't know where this came from - making fun of such a serious matter. I warned you all that I was feeling a bit out of sorts, didn't I?! Anyway, I'm scared Armin might do something to Eren and mess up his plan unaware of everything that's going on (particularly with Ymir). I so hope my fear doesn't come to fruition. As for the Marleyan soldiers and titans - I'm not worried 'cause I don't think they can lay a finger on Eren right now. Is it too smug of me to think of Eren as nearly invincible now, having the support of Ymir and all?!
Still, just to elaborate on my point here. I really think that Eren is not going to flatten the whole planet and drive humanity to extinction (though many characters may believe so and try to stop him for this reason), but he is going to put an end to the world as it is no, to the current state of affairs, to a world cowering to the powers of the Titans and Eldians cowering to the world's hatred and animosity. I just know Eren is going to effectuate some major change. I just cannot see what it would be yet, and how he would go about it - what methodology he would follow (arguably the most difficult part - to actually put his plan in effect). Any theories?
Fourthly, I hope Mikasa and Armin hurry up and get away from the cascading chunks of the wall. Don't let them be hurt by a stupid falling stone. That would be so lame, seriously! But, hey, Mikasa and her instincts ought to be enough to save them both, right?! I hope all others from the Paradis' army are at a safe distance from the wall.
Fifthly, people (Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Levi and Hange in particular) still don't know the gravity of what Eren just achieved and I can't wait for them to find out, to see that all that he put them through was justified and to a noble end. Eren just helped the most tragic character in the world of SNK - their common ancestor Ymir (which ultimately also helps all of them, I think and hope). He frees her of 2,000-year slavery, arguably even more because it seems like in the realm where she resides time flows differently and it can feel like years have passed while in the physical world only milliseconds have gone by. A slave in life and a slave in death, working endlessly obeying every whim of the royal family, watching as her children are forced to devour her earthly body and her grandchildren - her children's bodies, and so on and so on... witnessing the horrors effectuated by her creations - the Titans... witnessing the suffering of all of her descendants... What a torturous existence! And her call for help to have finally reached somebody willing to help her. Just recall those panels where Eren switches from his usual furious ranting about freedom and his anger-distorted face to his more rarely shown empathetic and kindly helpful mode, where he accesses emotions other than anger. His kindness, support and understanding reach Ymir and she finally shows her eyes and her emotions - the pain written all over her face, the anger, the suffering, the sadness... it's heartbreaking. Such brilliant imagery! I mean seriously, this chapter had so little written words and yet it conveyed so much - genius!, outstanding!, remarkable! I just loved it!
*Another quick intermission here - I mentioned in this paragraph how the first Eldian Tribal Leader/King Fritz forced his and Ymir's daughters to eat every last piece of her body so that they would gain her power. I heard a lot of people wonder why he did this and how did he know they had to eat her. Well, he didn't know, but it was the only thing that he could see as a plausible option for obtaining her power because apparently simply siring offspring didn't work (i.e. her daughters didn't seem to have inherited her power by virtue of having her blood/DNA). It is not just this Tribal Leader that believed consuming somebody would grant them the power that this person possesses. Through cannibalism's history, there has been a persistent theme that the vitality of the human body and spirit can be ingested to bestow power and life force upon the cannibal/eater, it has been viewed as a way to acquire the strength and ability of a defeated enemy or a fallen comrade. Along the same lines of logic, Native Americans believed that the hair was the extension of one's soul, and for a warrior to gain the strength of another, he had to scalp them and sow their hair on his shirt, instead of ingesting it.
Sixthly, Ymir's past and the origin of the titans were revealed in an ingenious way - I already talked about it in the previous paragraph but I had to mention it as a stand-alone pro for chapter 122. ;)) This deserves recognition because, without any words, the panels were so powerful that they conveyed so much information and such all-consuming emotions!
*Quick note: How cool is it that Ymir gained the Titan powers from the Tree of Life/Yggdrasil from Norse mythology?! Way better than a deal with the devil or alien parasites, right? Ten points to Eren Kruger - his theory about the true origins of the Titans claiming that Ymir came into contact with the source of all living matter was quite on point (maybe he saw it in a memory of Ymir's or Eren's).
Seventhly, we are shown how much the slave mentality is ingrained in Ymir, but at the same time we are also shown small glimmers of her fighting spirit and wish to live and be free - 1) Ymir desperately running through the forest, trying to escape the Eldians, despite her many injuries (arrows in her shoulder blade and calf, and (a) bleeding eyesocket(s) or a head-wound with blood dripping so that it obstructs her vision), 2) Ymir dying, which can be interpreted as the ultimate act of defiance - the Kind needed her and her power to terrorize other tribes/peoples/nations, and to build roads & bridges & cultivate lands, and to breed more children of his, but she was done with being used and made to suffer and still with her slave-mentality and lack of self-identity, she could not defy the King in any other way but to die protecting him, and 3) Ymir sending the "SOS-message" through the paths to the Attack Titan. Taking into account that Ymir's titan power was allegedly divided into the nine titans, we could infer that each one of these nine took on a specific characteristic of hers and her titan form. So, what if the Attack Titan is the embodiment of this fighting spirit of Ymir's that I just talked about. Remember that panel of chapter 122 where the first Eldian Tribal Leader/King Fritz orders that his daughters made their children eat their spines and so on down the line - there are only eight titans there, of which seven are easily identifiable and one is left to be either the Founding Titan or the Attack Titan. Well, it must be the Progenitor, right?! If we think logically, there is no way that the Founding Titan didn't emerge until later because this titan must have been passed immediately and must have never been absent. In that case, this might be a clue that the Attack Titan emerged at a later time than the other eight. Maybe it is because of how powerful Ymir's conviction of being a slave is that it didn't emerge earlier, BUT this was still a part of her - the fight for freedom, and she couldn't suppress it forever. Maybe this is why no one really knew much about the Attack Titan. He had to stay hidden and follow a certain path in order to ultimately set Ymir free. I am getting goosebumps just thinking about this. And maybe this is why the Attack Titan and his holders, especially Eren, are so connected to the paths - more than the other titans and their holders, more than even the ones with royal status (not blood because it turns out all subjects of Ymir are also royals, descendants of the first Eldian Tribal Leader/King Fritz - after all, Ymir only had children with him, for a woman, actually a girl, with such slave-mentality and under such a brutal rule it wouldn't have been an easy task to have and hide an affair and/or a pregnancy). Maybe this is why the Attack Titan has the capacity to access not only previous but also future memories and possibly messages from Ymir directly. The Attack Titan must have emerged out of Ymir's deep-seated desire for freedom, for release from this endless suffering.
Finally, I have to mention this again - the depth of emotion that Eren showed after all these chapters where he mostly kept a poker face on. We have seen his capacity for empathy and emotions other than anger before, too, but not in a long while. We haven't even seen him angry all that much considering that this was a constant with him at one time. It's just now this one panel where he just grabs this little girl and after he is done yelling and trying to make her understand that she has the freedom to choose what to do next, everything just falls away, his grip even loosens and he is not holding her just to keep her from moving on Zeke's orders, but he is now hugging her, consoling her, showing empathy, showing his own sadness stemming from all of that ... and the reaction this provokes in her. I bet no one has ever cared for her like Eren just did at that moment. It's the first time in her story that we see her eyes and her facial expression actually changes to show some raw emotion. It is so powerful!!
I have even more to say when it comes to chapter 122, but right now I am just consumed with this one panel. Maybe after a few days, when my mind clears up a bit, I will continue my list of pros for this latest chapter... or maybe I will not be able to write more in the near future and maybe even weeks later I will still be reeling in amazement from the genius of the plotline, the brilliance of the imagery, the power of the emotions conveyed and Eren (just everything about him). <3
I wanna know, tell me please.
They could very well appear in the next chapter, along with Nikolo. What will be their fates? Will they die? Will Nikolo save them? Will Gabi save them? Will they get out of Shiganshina? Will only Kaya make it? Frankly I am dreading what their fates will be, we've already lost best girl Sasha so I'm not optimistic here.
Is there any chapter you personally really couldn't stand in this long ride. I already said my piece about Chapter 121, it's still complete nonsense. Does anyone have a chapter that really got them frustrated for one reason or another? Whatever the reason doesn't matter. Could be a good reason or a really bad reason, LOL. And no upvotes! NO upvotes! XP
Is Levi dead or not
Seriously, why are these two even in the story? Really gonna suck if they tag along for the anime, they just don't feel important to the plot at all. Maybe that will change in Chapter 123......but they should've been killed off long ago like Udo and Sofia. Even Porco was a waste I thought. XP All the Warrior Cadets have been a disappointment.
Lots of upvoting but why go through the trouble of reading a post if you don't wanna reply to them? Come on guys, if I wanted likes, I'd be on Facebook XD Come on let's see a little action around here, it's getting quiet. I don't care if 122 is still a day out XP
Probably just a stupid coincidence but isn't it bizarre that Sasha and Reiner have last names that come so close to being the same, just one letter off? (At least as far as the anime goes XP) And Sasha met her end because of her former comrade's cousin Gabi...……...That can't be intentional right? You can never know with Yamsicle. XP I wonder if Reiner will EVER find out what Gabi did to his former friend.
This shit will be ugly. XD SNK is known for its high body count. Name at least one death scene that you feel was not earned, was ill-timed, carried little weight (Yes I know the principle of redshirt characters, sue me DX ), or you just straight up hated. Nobody likes watching a good character die, especially if it's a favorite character, but what death scenes would you have gladly done without if it meant getting more of said characters or addressing a plot point that felt unsatisfactory? Let's hear, I haven't had any time to kill here all week :D

Serious question, why hasn't Connie advocated for Gabi to be killed or tried for her actions at all at any point? I know he's blaming Eren for what happened to Sasha and focusing his rage on him, but as the one who pulled the trigger, Gabi should also be set in his sights, right? I mean any ordinary person would want to get the actual killer themselves, no? How come Connie is so passé on Gabi? Armin and Mikasa held back because they saw the eye for an eye mentality as senseless, but Connie surely doesn't share that point of view in his current state of mind. Because he wants Eren dead. So what's the deal here?
I wanna hear what people have to say about Attack on Titan and it's recent revelations and development on The series itself and Eren Jaeger, the Genius in secret. You can also give opinions on who you think is the best character or best in terms of skills
May sound like a stupid conspiracy theory but nothing's ever merely a conspiracy with Yams here. Still, I've overheard from a few fans before, about Sasha in Shiganshina…...She got wounded pretty badly but still pulled through. Even though Jean's arm got skewered, Hange lost an eye and Armin was literally brought back from the verge of death, the most fuss was raised over Sasha's wounds even though hers were described as "not critical", and was even refused the serum because of that fact. No one else ended up bedridden aside from Armin. Was this some way of Yams telling us that she was gonna end up dying the next time we saw her, some kind of extended warning long, long before the fact? It sounds like such a stupid stretch but, is it? Sounds unlikely but knowing Yams, if it's true...…..Like I've said before, what an asshole. XP
