The Arlelt family (アルレルト家 Arureruto-ke?) is a family that lived in Shiganshina District before the fall of Wall Maria.
History
Before the fall of Wall Maria, Armin's grandfather kept a secret book which contained forbidden knowledge of the world beyond the Walls, with descriptions of fiery waters and sandy snowfields. Eventually, the man gave this book to his grandson Armin Arlelt. When he was nine years old, Armin showed this book to his friend Eren Jaeger, inspiring him to see the outside world, Armin also told Eren that his parents were going to leave the walls soon to see the outside world.[1] In reality, they attempted to escape by creating a hot air balloon. However, the Military Police Regiment found them out and killed them as they attempted to escape on the balloon.[2]
