"That day, the human race remembered the terror of being dominated by them, and the shame of being held captive in a birdcage..." — Over 100 years ago, a natural predator of humanity appeared: the Titans, giant humanoid but mindless monsters whose sole purpose of existence seemed to be to devour humans. There was an insurmountable gap in power between them and mankind, and as a result, humanity was rapidly exterminated to the brink of extinction. The survivors responded by constructing three concentric walls: Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sina, which graced them with a century of peace. However, one day a Colossal Titan far larger than any other seen before breached the outer wall, allowing the smaller Titans to invade the human territory and forcing the survivors to retreat to the inner walls. Eren Jaeger, a boy whose mother was eaten during the invasion, vowed to wipe every last Titan off the face of the Earth, and joined the military determined to exact his revenge. |

 The War Hammer Titan (戦槌の巨人 Sentsui no Kyojin?) is one of the Nine Titans that possesses the ability to create any structure out of hardened Titan flesh. It is currently in the possession of Lara Tybur. After the Marley Mid-East War, Zeke Jaeger develops some concerns towards the fate of the Eldian race, given the world's rising technological advantage over the Titans and, by extension, over Marley. In order to improve the reputation of the Eldians in the eyes of other nations, Zeke convinces the Tybur family to support the next attack on Paradis Island with the power of their War Hammer Titan.
 Pieck Finger (ピーク・フィンガー Pīku Fingā?) is an Eldian who serves as one of Marley's Warriors and is the current inheritor of the Cart Titan. Five years into the mission to reclaim the Founding Titan, Pieck journeys to Paradis Island with Zeke Yeager and a contingent of Marleyan soldiers, using her Cart Titan to carry supplies for them. She is present as Zeke and the soldiers transform the inhabitants of a small village into Titans. |

 Declaration of War (宣戦布告 Sensen Fukoku?) is the 64th episode of the Attack on Titan anime. It was produced by MAPPA. In the basement of a building behind the stage, Reiner Braun reunites with Eren Jaeger for the first time in four years. He is terrified that Eren has come back to exact revenge, but Eren is calm and explains that he is here for the same reason Reiner originally came to Paradis Island. He asks Reiner for the reason he attacked in the first place, and understanding his point of view, he concludes that the two of them are the same. Given their situations they did not have a choice, either then or now. On the stage itself, Willy Tybur puts on a theatrical production of Eldian history as it is known to the rest of the world, only to reveal that the true end of the Great Titan War was brought about by King Karl Fritz himself, who worked with the Tybur family to manufacture the story of Helos. The King isolated himself and his people on Paradis Island and made a vow to renounce war that would be imposed on his successors, which would have kept the world safe from Titans, except that the Founding Titan has now changed hands to Eren, who is not bound by the same restrictions as those of the royal bloodline. Willy asks the world to unite with him as he declares war on Paradis.
 Devote Your Hearts (心臓を捧げよ Shinzou o Sasageyo?) is the 136th chapter of the Attack on Titan manga, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The team regroups on the back of Falco Grice's flying Jaw Titan and decides to head back for the two members Falco was unable to rescue; Armin Arlert and Pieck Finger. They split into two teams. Reiner Braun and Jean Kirstein land near the front of the Founding Titan where Pieck had been impaled by a familiar War Hammer Titan. She is able to break free on her own though and joins the fight to hold off the Titans long enough for Jean to reach the detonator, though the odds look grim. Towards the other end of the Founding Titan, Annie Leonhart, Mikasa Ackerman, and Connie Springer form the second team and begin pursuit of the Titan that swallowed Armin. It is the only Titan that runs away from them, while the others on the Founder's back continue to block them. Inside the Titan, Armin is frustrated by his inability to get his body to move, knowing that everyone is likely to die without his help. In his despair, he notices the ground is actually sand, and he is in the Path. While he ponders how best to make use of this, he realizes he is not alone. Zeke Yeager is here and says he also has been eaten by Ymir Fritz. |
