Even though the original Fritz was never related to Ymir, would he have been able to become a Titan himself due to his royal blood?

Only people related to the Original Ymir Fritz can turn into Titans, if the First King ate Ymir then nothing would happen because he isn't related to her. If Ymir's daughters never ate her they still would've became Titans since they were the only SoYs at the time

We can debate about considering Ymir Fritz a SoY since she's the first, but we can say for that her three daughters were SoY by birth, the first ones if we don't consider their mother. And their children too were SoY, etc... But what about the people who ate the three daughters and yet weren't their children, which mean they weren't SoY ? Well, eventually, they still could eat the daughters, and gain a Titan Power, and with them and the children of the daughters, we have the first holders of the 9 Titans. I consider that those non-SoY who ate the daughters became SoY by eating them, for unknown reasons.
These non-SoY who ate the daughters were in a smilar situation as Ymir's : they were born as non-SoY, and gained a Titan Power. These are the only cases of people who weren't SoY by birth. These exceptions can be "explained" as it's still the genesis of the Titans.
Since this moment, every SoY is a SoY by birth.
I don't think the first SoYs became such by eating Ymir's daughters or the first 9 shifters. Remember when Ymir was hit and killed by that spear? Just before she finally closes her eyes and dies, the king orders her to stand up and work because she was born to be a slave. I think when she awoke in the Path Realm she chose to grant the power to turn into Titans only to Eldians because she was brainwashed to advantage Eldians for all her life. So I think that right after Ymir's Death all the Eldians of that time (which, given the more "tribal" society they lived in, were also ethnically Eldian) got the ability to turn into Titans all at once, thus becoming SoYs.
This is what I've always assumed, but now, re-reading chapter 122, especially the king's speech on his death bed, I see that it's kinda ambiguous and it could also be interpreted your way.

Yup. There's no absolute answer (yet?) and your theory could make sense, but we can't say if one of us is right or if we're both wrong x)
I'm not sure if I actually believe it, but it was explained to me that every SoY is actually descended from Ymir Fritz. Like she is the 'Mitochondrial Eve' of the SoYs. Thus the 'Royal Family' is nothing special blood wise in their relation to Ymir, they are only recognized as different by Ymir because of their inherited titles.
There's a problem with this though - only 2000 years have passed since Ymir's death but there are millions of SoYs in the world. How can they all be descended from her?

This is a part of the problem I have with the theory pretending that they're all blood relatives to Ymir "Fritz". My theory saying that amongst the people who ate the three daughters and that weren't their children, and that became SoY for whatever reason (as an exception) can explain partially how there can be millions of SoY now, as their descendant would be aded along the direct descendants of Ymir.
Also, we have to consider that sometimes during Eldia's history (not all of the time obviously), there has been some ethnic spreading, with women from conquered countries forced to bear SoY. That might explain how many SoY there are right now.
About the number of SoY, there's something we don't really know, it's the proportion of SoY from the continent (not just the ones from Marley, but all over the world) and from Paradise. I think that there are a few millions on Paradise (2 or 3 something like that), plus the 586 000 Wall Titans but can we still consider them as a part of the population ? But the SoY from the rest of the world, we have no idea how many they are..
@Razzylada Don't forget that some SoYs could have had kids with non-SoYs and their kids would do the same and so on and so on without even knowing it. I bet a lot of people in the AoT universe are SoY but don't know it.
@EthanPHX this is what I said, with eugenics, but obviously breeding has occured without these eugenic politics.
And after chapter 123, if some SoY didn't know they were SoY, well they know it now x)
When Ymir was killed by a spear (that came out through her nape) instead of the King, I think she saw that as a way out, like, "My life for your life. Now, in death, I'm free". But then, even in death she was not free, in fact she had to help her children murder and eat each other for an eternity in that void. Someone pointed out why didn't she heal from that spear wound, I think it's because she wanted to die.

A vicious cycle that never stops spinning.
