Buchwald (ブツヴァルド Butsuvarudo^?) is a horse ridden by Jean Kirschtein during the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission.

Appearance[]

Like the majority of specially bred Scout Regiment horses, Buchwald was tall in stature with a dark brown coat of hair and a black mane.

Story[]

The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission arc[]

Buchwald is the horse assigned to Jean during 57th Exterior Scouting Mission.^[2] When Jean and his other comrades engage the Female Titan, Buchwald flees the encounter and is found by Christa. Christa brings the horse back to Jean. The soldiers and their horses are stationed outside the Forest of Giant Trees for the remainder of the mission.^[3]^[4]

Abilities[]

Speed - As a horse specially bred for use in the Scout Regiment, Buchwald has a top speed of 75-80 km/h.

Endurance - Buchwald can maintain a constant speed of 35 km/h. Due to his staunch legs, he is capable of withstanding the stress of sudden stops, acceleration, and circling.

Temperament - Buchwald is quite docile and is not frighten in the presence of Titans, but he can be anxious at times. The nearly constant sound of ODM gear being used so close to him also seems to have no effect on him.
