Erwin's Elegant Day Off (団長の優雅な休日 Danchō no Yūgana Kyūjitsu?) is the 26th chapter of the 2nd volume and the 53rd chapter overall of the Spoof on Titan manga, written and illustrated by hounori.
Overview
Hange convinces an overstressed Erwin to take a vacation, which Erwin tries to use to catch up on his workload.
Summary
Hange wakes up Erwin, who has fallen asleep on his desk. Noticing that he is sleeping heavily, Hange decides to make a loud announcement that he has arrived at his house. This effectively wakes Erwin up, but he mistakes Hange for a coachman and gives them money. Hange suggests that Erwin take a day off from work and adds that they are willing to take over his position for a day. Erwin thinks it is a good idea, and Hange encourages him to sign a vacation request, which states that he will not have a say in whatever happens to the regiment while Hange is acting commander.
Now at home, Erwin thinks about his long-awaited day off. As he tries to go to sleep, he thinks about what he should do for the following day. He thinks he should go out for a meal and drink in the afternoon or just stay in bed for the whole day. Eventually, he is so worked up that he cannot sleep.
Hange announces to the soldiers that Erwin is taking the day off, so they will handle things on his behalf for the rest of the day. They suggest doing research on the Titan that the Survey Corps recently captured, but they realize that Erwin is working behind them. Erwin explains that it would make his job easier if he were to work on a day off.
Erwin tells Levi that he is heading out to drink with a friend, but Levi finds it odd since it is not dark yet. Waltz, a Military Police Brigade soldier, tells Nile, the head of the Brigade, that Erwin has swung by to see him for an emergency. When Erwin brings Nile to a bar, Nile is appalled that he had lied about the emergency, but Erwin reasons that he would not have come if he had not said that it was urgent.
Inside the coach on the way home, the coachman announces their arrival at Erwin’s residence. However, Erwin, who has fallen asleep, mistakes the coachman for Hange and tells him to let him sleep for a little longer. Erwin later wakes up in his bed after a night of drinking too much. He thinks about going to work but decides to be tardy after going to work yesterday on his day off. At work, Hange is bombarded with tasks from their subordinates and wonders where Erwin is now that their day as a commander is over.
