Farmer Yeager (野菜を作るイェーガー Yasai o Tsukuru Yēgā?) is the 16th chapter of the 2nd volume and the 43rd chapter overall of the Spoof on Titan manga, written and illustrated by hounori.

Overview

In an alternate timeline, Eren washes out of the Training Corps. Together, with Mikasa and Armin, they become vegetable farmers.

Summary

Washed out of the Training Corps, Eren clears a field for planting. Armin, working alongside him, tells Eren that even though he could not eliminate Titans, Eren is the best at eliminating weeds. Eren questions whether Armin's comment was meant to compliment or insult him. Eren states that he has not given up fighting Titans, and continues to fight them by supporting humanity agriculturally. He proudly declares that his vegetables will strengthen the soldiers that eliminate the Titans. Mikasa interrupts by loudly chomping on a cucumber. She claims that the cucumbers are bland and require fertilizer. Additionally, Mikasa annoys Eren by telling him that he is not to blame due to his little experience.

Mikasa recommends that Eren taste the cucumber as well, but he refuses it. Eren specifies that he cannot eat unwashed vegetables. Furthermore, he explains that due to his city heritage, he is not fond of them. Armin argues that the farming book told them that freshly-picked vegetables taste best; he says that Eren then must eat them as he is the farmer. Eren counters Armin's argument by telling him to eat them. Armin nervously confesses that he cannot as he was raised in the city as well. Saying nothing, Mikasa loudly consumes the rest of the cucumber.

Mikasa draws an advertisement

Mikasa draws an advertisement

Eren and Armin find Mikasa drawing something. Eren asks her what she is doing, and Mikasa tells them that she is making a promotional advertisement for their produce. Armin considers how such a promo could let customers know the people behind the vegetables. Excited, Eren begs Mikasa to let him see the promo. The promotional is honest, showing Eren to be a military dropout that resigns his efforts towards maximizing his efforts for the agricultural sector. Mikasa claims that it will attract customers, but Eren angrily disagrees.

Eren, Armin, and Mikasa find themselves delivering vegetables to the Training Corps. Armin wonders how everyone has been since the last time they saw them. Connie is the first to notice and he remembers Eren. Connie calls to the others that the vegetable suppliers arrived. Sasha, Jean, and Krista arrive, calling Eren unique nicknames. Eren is disappointed that nobody remembered his name, but Armin mentions how Eren did not spend much time with them before leaving the Training Corps.

Eren asks Armin and Mikasa if they want to eat out at a restaurant, because he remembered how good this specific one was. Armin is surprised that this is the first time they spent money on anything for themselves, receiving acknowledgement from Eren. A waitress brings three plates, containing fried potatoes and seasonal salads, for the three farmers. Immediately, the three begin analyzing the food on the plates. First they discuss the superior texture of the potatoes and whether or not its due to fertilizer or variety. Moving on, they then discuss the spinach and what its vibrant green hues imply about pest control, irritating the waitress who overhears them.

Shouting, Armin tells Mikasa that a Titan appeared in their field. Mikasa demands to know where Eren is, noting that the last time she saw him was inside the field. Mikasa is shocked at how large the Titan is, and Armin pleads with her to escape with him on the horses. The Titan begins picking turnips, startling Mikasa. Armin theorizes that it must be an abnormal Titan. Mikasa notices that the Titan is delicately picking the potatoes, taking care not to damage them. Freaking out, Armin urges Mikasa to leave.

Eren wakes up in his bed, surrounded by Armin and Mikasa. He regrets worrying them, but he remembers when and how he turned into a Titan. Armin considers the potential of Eren's powers, before being interrupted by him. Eren pronounces that he will use his ability to transform into a Titan to benefit humanity by eliminating all of the Titans. Later, Armin and Mikasa watch Eren and his Titan plow a field. Armin insists that Eren's speed will increase their yield. Hearing this, Mikasa says their farm will be even a greater help to humanity, now with Eren's support. Bored, Eren wishes that he could fight Titans instead, regretting the miscommunication.
