Grandpa Arlert (じじい・アルレルトJijī Arureruto?) is the 3rd chapter of the 1st volume and the 3rd chapter overall of the Attack on Titan: Junior High manga, written and illustrated by Saki Nakagawa.
Eren and Mikasa go to Armin's house to try and get him to attend school, but Armin refuses to and recalls an incident at the dodgeball tournament the previous year.
Summary
Eren and Mikasa arrive at Armin's house and ring the bell. His grandfather answers the door, demanding what they want. He refuses to allow Armin to leave, but gives them a chance to come in by beating him; Mikasa cracks her knuckles, but Armin's grandfather backs off and leads them to Armin's room. When announced that his friends are here, Armin panics and yells that no one was allowed in. Eren says that he and Mikasa are here to escort Armin to school for the annual dodgeball tournament, but Armin believes it is a trick.
Mikasa and Eren visit Armin to get him to go to school
Mikasa admits that Eren is crazy at times, but that he is speaking the truth. Armin comes out but is still hesitant to come to school, reminding them of previous year's tournament where he was hit in the face by a ball and humiliated. Mikasa says that while he is still a weakling and a coward, everyone at school is ready to accept him, just like with Eren earlier in the week. Eventually, Armin decides to go with them.
The next morning during roll-call, the teacher is surprised to see Armin showed up but notices that Eren is absent. As a group of older students looks on, Armin declares that he will do his best at school.
