Jurgen

Jurgen (ユルゲン Yurugen^?) was a member of the Survey Corps. He was eaten by a Titan while trying to retrieve his friend Ivan's body with Dieter on the 57th expedition.^[1]

Appearance

Jurgen was a man of average height, he had long brown hair which he kept tied back with a green hair tie and bangs cut across his forehead. His eyes were grey, and he wore the typical uniform of the Survey Corps.

Story

The Female Titan arc

Jurgen is first seen during the 57th expedition while the Survey Corps are returning to Karanes District. He and Dieter urge Erwin Smith for permission to return to the Forest of Giant Trees to recover the body of their fallen comrade, Ivan. After the Commander rejects their request, they continue to push him for it until Captain Levi intervenes and tells them that Ivan

will be dead regardless of whether or not they have his body. Unable to handle the higher ups decision, Jurgen and Dieter act on their own accord and retrieve Ivan's body alone. Unfortunately, a swarm of Titans chases after them on their way back, one of which grabs Jurgen off his horse and eats him.^[1]

Trivia

Jurgen's appearance is anime exclusive and he does not appear in the manga. Much of the scenes that he was shown in were only added into the anime.^[1]
