LENぞ97n10火巨説MAHLE is the 7th track on disc 2 of the "Attack on Titan" Season 3 Original Soundtrack.

As with all the other pre-The Final Season OSTs, it was composed and arranged by Hiroyuki Sawano.

Title[]

The title is a pun referencing the TV series Mare, which Sawano also scored. A show like that would be referred to as a Serial TV Novel (連続テレビ小説 Renzoku TV Shōsetsu?).

Combining romaji spelling, kanji, hiragana and homophones of Japanese numbers, LEN (ren), ぞ (zo), 9 (ku) becomes Renzoku ("serial") and 7 (na), n, 10 (to), 火 (ka) becomes "nantoka", which means "something", or "somehow". It is also used as a filler word in Japanese.

巨説 (Kyosetsu) is a pun too, obtained from replacing in "Shōsetsu" the kanji for "little", 小 (Shō), with the kanji for "gigantic", 巨 (Kyo), the same used in "Titan" (巨人 Kyojin?). 説 (setsu) means "theory".

MAHLE is a possible romaji spelling for マーレ ("Marley").

The title is therefore supposed to be read "Renzoku Nantoka Kyosetsu Māre" (literally "Serial Something Gigantic Theory Marley").

Musical motifs[]

At 1:07-1:30, the track incorporates the melody from SymphonicSuite[AoT]Part2-2nd:ShingekiNoKyojin (1:41-2:11).

All occurrences[]

  • Episode 56 - Grisha and Faye head outside the internment zone
  • Episode 87 - The Scouts are invited to feast with the immigrants
