Laugh, Annie! (笑ってアニ Waratte Ani?) is the 11th chapter of the 2nd volume and the 38th chapter overall of the Spoof on Titan manga, written and illustrated by hounori.

Overview

Hitch tries every trick in the book to get Annie to laugh.

Summary

Hitch remarks that she has never seen Annie laugh. Annie says she only laughs if something is actually funny. Hitch presses, but Annie says she will smile when Hitch leaves. Hitch tells Annie a joke: when she asked Boris if he needed Marlowe, Boris said he had too many. Hitch laughs at her own joke, but Annie's face remains sober. Annie dryly states that she does not blame Boris, because everyone keeps giving him Marlowes. As Annie describes four Marlowes and their different personalities with a straight face, Hitch cannot stop laughing.

Dennis summons Hitch, Annie, Boris, and Marlowe to the warehouse to organize it. When Marlowe asks him what is stored, Dennis says he does not know because he is not there often. Dennis then makes a pun involving wary and warehouse, repeating the joke. Only Hitch is not annoyed by Dennis' joke. She claims that repeating the joke enhances comic effect, but Annie cuts her off before she can finish describing her plan to make Annie laugh.

Opening a box, Boris and Hitch find a stash of love letters. They both laugh at a love poem, before Hitch decides to show it to Annie. Reading it, Annie says she likes that type of poetry and finds it romantic. Boris immediately claims he also thought it was romantic and asks Annie if she likes it as well, unamusing Hitch.

Marlowe spots Hitch staring at him weird, because of Annie's earlier joke. He demands that she continue working and tells her to be careful with the heavy box he hands her. Annie whispers to Hitch that this Marlowe must be the third one, the thoughtful variant, causing Hitch to start laughing. Hitch drops the box on her foot, infuriating Marlowe.

Dennis checks in on their progress, claiming that he has a busy schedule to maintain. Hitch shows him the love letters. Dennis laughs at the poetry, ridiculing it with Hitch. Then Dennis admits that he wrote it when he was younger and inexperienced, shocking Hitch and Boris.

Hitch complains to Annie that all her attempts are failing. Annie says that Hitch is obviously trying too hard, allowing herself to prepare for Hitch's jokes. Annie recommends that Hitch try again in several days. Hitch swears she is going to make Annie laugh. As Hitch lowers her box to the floor, her pants split. Boris alerts Hitch to her predicament, causing her to freak out. As she looks to Annie for assistance, Annie starts laughing heavily. Annie falls on the floor laughing, saying that Hitch's self-deprecating joke was enough to finally make her laugh. Flustered, Hitch tries to convince Annie that she didn't actually plan it as a joke, begging her to fetch her a new pair of pants.
