Leo (レオ Reo?) is a thug living in the Underground City.
Appearance
Leo has light colored eyes and red hair which is cut short. He wears a scarf around his neck along with a white button up shirt and a vest.
Personality
Fashioning himself as the leader of a group of thugs within the Underground City, Leo sees him and his group as above others since they do not kill anyone who comes across them. Despite this, he also has a softer side that is usually not seen by others and has a desire to someday leave the Underground City.
Story
Underground City arc
Leo is seen with a group of thugs that roam the Underground City who try to hustle people out of their money. His group encounters a young woman named Sharle who is trying to follow the famed blacksmith Angel Aaltonen.[1] As they close in around her, Klarissa arrives and claims the woman is her client, threatening them into backing off.
Leo apologizes and claims that they earn their money by honest means, something Klarissa scoffs at. Both Leo and Klarissa are shocked to hear that the drunken Angel was the man who was able to kill a Titan;[2] Leo volunteers to take Sharle to where Angel is living, which is on the outskirts of the Underground City. As they journey there, Leo tells Sharle about how he got to become a hustler. After persuading Angel to see Sharle, Leo is surprised when Angel reveals why he arrived in the Underground City and unsuccessfully tries to persuade the craftsman to go with Sharle.
The next day, Leo is surprised to see a more youthful looking Angel and is glad to hear that he is going after all. Impressed with what Angel and Sharle are trying to accomplish, Leo swears that someday he will leave the Underground City and join the Survey Corps.[3] He bids the two farewell, but agrees with Klarissa that Sharle should not return due to living a different lifestyle not suitable down below.
Relationships
- Angel Aaltonen - Leo met Angel at some point during his exile and would form a friendship of sorts with the man. Knowing the craftsman as merely a blacksmith, Leo is stunned to hear that Angel used to be the 'King of Inventions' and urged him to return to the surface and his old life.
- Sharle Inocencio - Initially seeing her as a possible target for his group of thieves, Leo is surprised to hear her reasons for travelling to the Underground City. He would take on a protective role as he helps Sharle navigate through the city to the home of Angel.
- Jorge Pikale - Although never meeting him before, Leo was familiar with the legend of Jorge Pikale and the heroics of the Survey Corps, hinting that he holds Jorge in high regards. Hearing that the Survey Corps was still in operation made Leo want to leave the Underground and eventually join them.
