  • Hello Valerie!

I just wanted to let you know that due to an extended absence period, your discussions moderator and content moderator rights have been removed. I assure you there is no issue, we just want to keep the roles open for other users who are more active on the wiki.

For more information, you can look at the Staff Guidelines and read the following section on inactivity:

Staff Members must keep a continuous activity in order to retain their position. This means being actually active on their action field and not simply be online. A Staff Member will be demoted if it is considered that the level of activity is insufficient, or if they are absent for 6 weeks (or up to 3 months with previous notice and approval by Administrators).

Thank you for your time as a discussions/content moderator, and I hope you continue to stay on the wiki.

    Jinx

    • Hello Jinx,

Apologies I haven't been able to be online as much as I used to before. I believe I told Manuel that this was due to real-life occupations and studying for exams the past year. I really enjoyed my time on this wiki, however I simply haven't been able to make as much time for any of my interests or hobbies, even now during the summertime. I wish you and all the other moderators well.

      Thank you.

  • Hello there,

I wanted to tell you that since you haven't been active on the Discord server for more than 3 months I have removed the Chat Moderator rights. You still retain your Content Moderator and Discussions Moderator rights since you're active on the mainspace of the wiki. Thank you for the good work you've been doing here. :)

    • I totally understand, Manuel, and thank you for notifying me.

In addition to you messaging me I wanted to give you an explanation as to why I have been editing less nowadays, and it's not really about school (maybe not now, at least) or anything personal. Instead, I just moved house a few weeks ago and we have yet to install the wifi where I'm at, sooo I tend to steal wifi from my clubhouse to ensure that I don't miss any important or upcoming news. By next week things should be sorted and I'll be sure to get back on my regular editing schedule!

    • Oh, I see. Yeah, I had noticed a reduction in your activity but I assumed it was temporary, so I wasn't worried. Thank you for letting me know, and I hope you can have your Wi-Fi soon. :D

  • Do you know an easier way that I can reach Parrotbeak? Can't seem to find her anywhere. Is she active on any wiki at all? I don't feel comfortable leaving multiple messages on her wall on wikis she's not active on. Sorry to be a bother.

    • Parrotbeak was prominently active on the Darkwing Duck wiki until early December 2016... you could try and reach out to her on Tumblr if you have not done so already? Her web address is parrotbeak.tumblr.com.

  • Hate to bug you, but since Parrotbeak hasn't gotten back to either of us I don't really have a choice. I need your help to ban this user, Sindel1000 the underage user is back and tore up the wiki last night. I suspect that this kid has 2 other accounts but at the moment I have no proof so I don't seek any actions against them. This one however is very blatently them, I was wondering if there was a way to block their IP address as well. I would like to prevent them from becoming a problem again in the future. Thank you in advance and sorry for bugging you on here again.

    • BlouseGirl I hope you don't mind but I could use some advice if you have the time. I've encountered an issue and I'm not entirely sure how to handle it, or if I am even dealing with it properly. I was going to reach out to Parrotbeak but I really don't wish to bother her because I know how much stress the wikia caused her in the past and to be honest I'm worried she will be angry with me.

Long story short there has been a troll (or child, I’m pretty sure it’s still Sindel) spam making accounts and causing problems. Who they are is very obvious; They always seem to know more about their old accounts than what's been posted, constantly come back to their own old threads/comments/blog posts, more often than not bashing their old account despite being told it’s blocked, and are always made the day they start spamming. There are other things but I’m trying to keep this short. At this point I've begun auto blocking them on sight but they must have some type of IP jumper because no matter how many time I IP block them they come back with at least two new accounts. They have even openly admitted to running a few of the accounts. At this point the user seems to be against me personally and honestly it’s a bit frustrating because I just want to make things better on the wiki. It seems they come back every day or so just to cause problems.  I spend at least twenty minutes a day cleaning up their messes. I’ve begun ignoring them and just blocking when it becomes obvious who they are but I worry that’s not right. I guess what I’m wondering is, do you know a better way to deal with this sort of thing? Or do I just need to keep this up until they go away? I'm sorry again for bothering you but I could really use all the advice I can get.

    • Have you contacted Wikia about this problem? You can write them an email discussing your qualms, and maybe even recommend for the Wikia Staff to globally ban Sindel. If reaching Parrotbeak at the moment seems like a stretch, perhaps you can try contacting her at another time.

For the time being I would suggest to try and reason with this user continuously until they respond - try to coerce them from creating sockpuppet accounts in the future if they do not actually get globally banned by Wikia. Ban them from editing, but still keep their talk page active. The user should receive emails notifying them, so it is probable that they will acknowledge the fact that someone has reached out to them (possibly, again) and have no choice but to respond. Are there any pages that this user vandalizes more abundantly than others? If so, try protecting a few pages for a while until this starts to die down. These are the general countermeasures I would take if I were in this predicament, however if you have any more queries that you would like me to address, then please do not be afraid to ask.

  • Sorry to bother you, I'm afraid I didn't get what do you mean by non-canon seperated from the canon. How do we type it?

(Also, I re-checked, but No Regret is canon.)

      Loading editor
    • The infobox stated it as "separate tabs". Separate tabs are pages that are of the same type, however dictate that the pages' content is different. In this case we would say that the "Underground" is the main page that sports canon information, however there might be a new page in the future called "Underground/Before the Fall" to store the non-canon information elsewhere so that it does not clash with canon information.

  • I feel horrible for having to come over here and message you because I know you said you were going to (possibly) step down from the Admin position over at the Ever After High wiki. I've been hesitate to message you for a while because I didn't want to bother you. Unfortunately you are the only other admin besides Parrotbeak, who has been MIA for a while. I tried messaging Parrotbeak on tumblr to no avail. The 'Candidate for Deletion' page has been building up and I've noticed that the user (Sindel1000) has repeatedly broken the rules, and continues to do so. I realise they are only 7 and I've tried to clean up the wiki but theres only so much I can do. So I figured you might be able to help.

    • In that case I would be honored to become the next admin and would do my very best to help maintain and improve the wikia. I do know the basics of editing (edit information, adding or updating pictures, creating and formating a page, ect.) The only thing I need to know are what my resposiblities would be and possibly how to carry them out. Sounds good, I look foward to it seeing the improvements I or someone else is able to make to carry on your legacy. Wow, that was a bit cheesy of me, sorry it's pretty late where I am.

    • Already knew that. As a content mod, I would never intend to do that on purpose. As a person, I'm prone to make mistakes. It's just a little thing, I think we can all get past it.

  • Hey, I'm Lau, nice to meet you. I need to ask you why you undid my edit when I fixed a bit of the grammar on there - seems like a counterproductive move.

      Loading editor
    • Hmmm, that's right, I just checked the edit and MasterLau certainly corrected several grammar errors, so it shouldn't have been reverted. I guess BlouseGirl clicked the rollback button by accident? In any case, I've restored the edit. Please be careful with that option.

        Loading editor
    • I'll try my best in answering. I may as well have clicked on it by accident. I looked at the revisions and I think they were mixed up on my side. So yesterday, I found that Jinx's version had been written properly, but MasterLau's version had been changed a few things such as shortening contractions. {this is untrue as MasterLau was the one who got rid of the contractions and fixed a sentence.}

I look at the history again today and found that instead it was the other way around. So I'm not sure if this an unprofessional problem on my side as I didn't check thoroughly enough, or it was probably a minor bug. Either way, sorry for the inconvenience.

    • @Manuel, thanks! Much appreciated.

@BlouseGirl, it's ok, things like that happen every now and then. No hard feelings. :D

        Loading editor
    • As MasterLau says, it's no big deal, as long as you detect the error and fix it. Just make sure that the result was as expected after using that option. :)
