That is weird. o_O And those edit counts aren't even close to correct. :/ I think it's a really crazy bug. I'm getting slightly different log in dates. Maybe one is supposed to be you? I don't see you on the list at all. :p
Yeah, that page had always been buggy, but now... O______O
Botniac appears with a different name and with 10 times less edits; there are 3 nonexistent accounts; and I, Jinx and Neetaku are missing. And you appear twice and with over 24 million edits, LOL. (¬_¬)
I've reported the bug to the Wikia Staff but I wanted to save that screenshot for posterity. xD
The combined amount of edits from all users since this wiki was created is 87,227 according to the stats page (hey, 1/10 of them are mine! :P). Those numbers that appear in the list of users seem to be merely random; for instance, your "second account" has 2016 edits which is most likely a confusion with the year.
I've noticed another bug in recent days, with the list of "My favorite wikis". On repeated times in my profile it put among my favorite wikis sites that I've never visited, like the Final Fantasy Wiki and another about ponies or stuff like that. o_O
Then it deleted two of the 4 wikis that I had been added and now it only shows this wiki and The Mentalist Wiki, and I can't add the rest. >.<
Coupled with the random bugs we find from time to time, I may say that Wikia is technically the buggiest large site that I've ever known. .____.
I wouldn't be worried about it. All issues seem to be related with the extensions created by them; the core MediaWiki software works flawlessly. The only potential risk would be a security issue. A website with so many bugs usually means security breaches, and I know they have had a couple of them in recent times. I may advice not to use the same password that you use for you e-mail or for other websites. Just in case.
Hey EternalLocket, it has come to my attention that there have been some strange occurrences when trying to create references for some BtF chapters. For example, although Chapter 8 of BtF is named "Predatory Cycle", whenever I try to make a reference for that and preview it, the reference shows up as a red link, linking to a separate name: "The Composition of Prey". Same goes for a few others. I attempted to take a closer look at the problem by searching the other title in the search bar. I traced the issue down to the BtF Navigation template thinking that perhaps it needs refreshing, however, all the content in that Navigation template seems to be up-to-date. Might there be a solution to this problem?
I've tried to look into that by checking the template page and even the template document, but it's not that simple. I don't think the ref template handles names, as the chapter names are already plugged in if I type in the chapter number only.
Jockø was correct, the names for some of the pages were added quite a while ago, and only recently was an updated translation given for the titles. Unfortunately, the names weren't updated in the ref template; since the pages weren't made yet, it went unnoticed.
The only website I can point you towards while we're on the wiki, is the Crunchyroll website that officially translates the manga into English. They leave the newest chapter up for free for about a week. Afterwards, to legally read further back, you would need a subscription. It's my understanding that they don't keep all the chapters on their website.
Otherwise, you'll just have to google other places that illegally host the manga in English. Be warned, that as far as translation is concerned, you're taking a chance in assuming the translation is correct.
Lol, no need for apologies, it happens. Just make sure to add the necessary info to your images. Also, make sure that images you upload are going to be used. Otherwise, they will eventually be deleted.
The category you're talking about is being added, usually by me, because your image does not meet the basic requirements for remaining on the wiki. Every image added to the wiki is supposed to contain fairuse and licensing to truly be considered free for us to use. What that means is that your image should look very similar to this. I'm not sure if it still shows up by default when adding an image, but you should at least be able to select the licensing when preparing to add an image. Afterwards, you can edit the image to add in the fairuse.
The easier way to add fairuse, at least in my opinion at this time, after the image has been uploaded would be to go to an image that already has it and copy and paste it into your image's summary section. Don't forget to change it to suit your image.(i.e. if the image you're uploading is from the anime, and the fairuse structure you're copying is from the manga. Make sure the source for your image says e | #, with # representing the number of the episode the image is from.)
There are few rules on what type of images you can't add, i.e. adult content, etc. But basically, as long as an image is in use, it won't be deleted. For example, the image you uploaded recently is still not in use, and if it remains that way it will eventually be deleted. Technically, we're supposed to delete images that aren't used after 2 days. But we're a little more focused on other things right now.
No need for apologies, you're not bothering me. We, as the admins for this wiki, are here to help when we can. So don't hesitate to ask any of us if you have a question, we're regular users like you who want to keep the wiki functioning. :)
Hi EternalLocket, I was wondering if this wiki opts to utilize the American or the English spelling. It may be a little confusing for people, as I've noticed "color" and "colour", along with some other examples. If the we don't need to worry about this, I understand. ^^
To add to that, don't worry so much if you've already changed some. As long as you aren't intentionally going out to change the spelling to one or the other, there shouldn't be much of a problem. The previous admins before us didn't have a particular stance on it either, since most of the US spelling vs UK spelling was minor in comparison to the other things they needed to worry about.
As a wiki, we had a similar discussion, and felt it was a minor issue. If I remember correctly, I or we felt that using both addressed both sides of the English language, not that any of us didn't have a personal preference due to habit. :p
Hello! I've been bobbing about this wiki lately, and I'm wondering...
It seems that Admins such as yourself have the links to their Home Pages like this in white, but I've seen both Cyan and Red Main Page links as well. What do those mean?
Again, it's just a random curiosity on my part. Thanks!
Hey EternalLocket, I was wondering if I could try and help out with finding images in the infoboxes for the Before the Fall chapters, as I notice there are missing file links and such. I was wondering, which images are normally used for the infoboxes? (i.e. images on the first page of the chapter/images that are representative for the chapter...)
I've already uploaded chapters 8 and 10. Chapter 10's cover managed to post as I followed the naming system, however I notice that the chapter 8 cover hadn't been able to be posted on the page because I seemed to named it incorrectly by leaving the C in "cover" uncapitalized. I really apologize for the inconvenience. :')
By the way, an easy way to upload the covers with the correct name is to click the red link on the article of each chapter, that will open a page where you can upload the cover with the correct title. It doesn't matter what is the original name of the file in your computer, as long as it is in PNG format, it will be automatically renamed to take the correct title. Then you only need to come back to the article, refresh the page using the option available in the "Edit" dropdown menu, and the cover will appear.
Just one more thing as you're adding images. Don't forget to add the characters who appear in the image to the image's list of categories. i.e. Kuklo appears in the image, so in the category section, you can start typing Kuklo's name and it should bring up "Images of Kuklo," which is the category that should be added. Otherwise, it would be difficult to keep track of how many images a character has, because they're not being tagged. Otherwise, the images you've added seem perfect. :)
It seems like more or less this suggestion, "How will the Survey Corps fight back the Beast Titan's army?," has appeared in various forms through out the thread. So that one, with "other" added as an option; since there's too many other possibilities to list.
Hey EternalLocket, I was wondering if I were allowed to draft up Sasha's relationships, since I notice that they have yet to be added onto her page. If this is permitted, I'll make a sandbox ^^. Also, not sure if this is something noteworthy but I see that some character relationships have the colon sign instead of the hyphen. Does that matter?
That is fine. You can add the appropriate information to any page missing it. I believe the preffered method is the use of a hyphen. So if you happen to be on any page using semi colons, then you can change that as well. Welcome to the wiki, I'm sure your edit will be fine. If you need any help, let any of the moderators know! :)
Personally, I don't think we should double up on characters unless absolutely necessary.(i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman) I think it may be fine for Eren and Mikasa, due to the little interaction they have. But I believe Ymir and Historia should probably be separated. Ymir has had more of an impact on Sasha, and is part of the reason she starts speaking how she normally would. I'm also unsure about adding jean, but I would most likely add Levi. I think he scares her to some degree, but she also seems to trust in his abilities. Though, I guess the same could be said for Armin and Jean, since she willingly takes orders from them without problems. I feel like more could be added to Connie's section, but I'm not sure what.
Otherwise, don't forget to link the character's names, and just title the section "Relationships." I'd also probably substitute "training" to "trainee," but that's probably just personal preference. As with other pages, if someone feels something can/should be added, they are free to edit it at will. So it isn't necessary to do things perfectly the first time.(In case someone doesn't agree with my opinion about this edit) All in all, it looks good, I see you also had no trouble using the ref template. :)
I see. I'll be sure to add links and a proper header when I add this onto her page, so rest assured on that one. ^^ As for the rest, thanks for telling me. I'll try my best and make use of what you've just included.
