This is from a post you made half a year ago, in December 2019:
"Even if we don't take that into account, this arc doesn't work as two as per the division you're making. The first reason is that they'd be two arcs of uneven length, with the second part spanning only around 8-9 chapters (approximation assuming an ending around Chapter 130). No arc since —and including— The Female Titan arc has been shorter than 16-20 chapters."
The problem with that is we now know for certain that the manga won't end at Chapter 130. And if it ends towards 138 (which might be true if there's around 5% of the story left as Isayama said), then we would have around 16 chapters since Eren's declaration of worldwide genocide. It would be of the same length as the Marley arc.
"The second reason is that none of the storylines in this arc function as standalone arcs, because they'd be left without closure. The conflict with the Yeagerists was still ongoing when Marley attacked, and members of the Marleyan military are still in the island as the Wall Titans advance. All events connect in succession, with no break between them or resolution to their plot points. They're all parts of a bigger event that's still in progress."
I don't think this applies anymore. The dynamic has completely changed since Marley's invasion of Paradis. We have a new conflict between the main cast comprising the Warriors and the 104th agains the Yeagersists. Not the mention Eren has been absent ever since he initiated the Rumbling. I'm sure you would agree that there has been a huge shift of perspective since that and the formation of the Alliance.
"Finally, this arc does have an overarching theme, which is the struggle to decide the fate of Paradis: the Survey Corps want to make peace with the other nations; the Yeagerists want to turn it into the start of a new Eldian Empire; the foreign parties want to destroy it (with Zeke and Yelena via the euthanization, and Marley via military force); and Eren wants to leave it as the only inhabited land in the world. It all converges in the island and it's a battle to take control of it and of its future."
Again, I don't agree. It's pretty clear that we're being presented with a dichotomy now: either the Alliance stops Eren from destroying the world or they fail. Zeke is out of commission, he's no longer a relevant party in the struggle for Paradis' future. The remnants of Marley's military forces have joined with the Survey Corps.
The current arc is about the aftermath of the Rumbling and finding a way to stop it. There's no longer a war for Paradis, this is about the world in its entirety.
Greetings, isn't it better to distinguish between the currently active members and the former members (deceased ones or the leavings) of the warrior unit in order to better organize the manpower?, i checked the other organizations( Millitary Police,Garrison and Survey Corps) and even the deceased members are present in the category former members.
- In the first place, we don't even have the confirmation that chapter 129 is done. Remember that Isayama is working with a few collaborators to make the chapters, and they're confined at home (or they were, I don't know if they're still confined). Maybe they still did something (maybe he sent them the work online, Idk how they'd deal with it).
- If we take the example of Shônen Jump, I've heard that sometimes, they already merged issues, but it didn't mean they had double chapter (so it's not a 100% double issue). I don't know if it's the same here, but there are chances that it's pretty similar.
(Don't get me wrong tho, I'd absolutely love to have two chapters at once, but I don't put my expectations high at all XD)
I looked into it, and for the most part, the "merger issue" means that June's issue is going to make up for the absence of May's, and that there won't be two different issues over the course of next month.
How could we have two chapters when Kodansha just said that 129 was done ? If Isayama couldn't make the chapter 129 in april and chapter 130 in may, it's because they were confined, and Isayama is working with collaborators to create the chapters, he's not doing it alone (otherwise he'd have done chapter 129 and 130 as usual)
lol you fooled me good. You got a point too. When I first learned about the hiatus I spoke to someone who thought we would get 2+ chps when it returned. We agreed that Isayama would stay working on the series, but not on multiple chps in one moth basically. He could've just been hopeful that the series wouldn't pull a berserk or something lol and that's another series returning too, and after only 2 months too =)
The funniest thing is that the series couldn't have gone on hiatus after a worst chp, a chp where the big debate over Eren hit a giant wall. Mainly about the smokescreen we got in chp 128, where some tried to twist Hanje's prediction about the state of Marley into a fact, yet I was saying we don't know anything for certain, and even Hanje wasn't sure herself. I even left a theory in the chp discussion that this was a literal smokescren to fool us, and it was positively received for the most part.
What's your take on that whole thing? I don't remember if you said anything there lol
A smokescreen isn't a bad idea, because I feel like it'd be a bit sad to not show the Titans arriving in Marley. It'd have been glorious to see them coming. Unless they haven't reached the coast yet, and that it's something Isayama is keeping for the end of volume 32.
I have stopped following the chapter 128 thread because it'd get many notifications per day x), and I'm more active on SnK subreddit
Hi I'm italian, and I would like to add a new languages to this amazing wiki. I would like to add the italian as an aptional languages to choose in the mosts important page, but I don't know if is possible to do it with the normal editor. I olso see that there is an other languages selectable in some pages.
Hello. This isn't a multilanguage wiki, it's only for English speakers. The other languages you see as options are actually separate and independent wikis. When multiple wikis have articles about the same subject, we use to connect them via interlanguage links. There's an Italian AoT Wiki if you'd like to collaborate with them.
I've just become a recent member of the wiki, but I remember checking back several years prior, there were articles about other pure titans such as the gluttonous titan, the bigmouth titan, and the bearded titan, to name a few. What, if I may ask, happened to them?
Those pages were removed as part of a clean-up of characters who have not been acknowledged in any official material. That is why the Peering Titan and Talking Titan remain, but the others do not. If they are ever given official names or are given a profile in a book then they'll be added back to the wiki.
