I'm sorry but those edits required too many fixes which I explained in my edit summary. Basic things like grammar, links incorrectly formatted, incorrect use of capital letters, misspellings, lack of references, linking manga pages from an anime page, etc; or even the inclusion of made-up terms like "Hardened Knuckles" and "Titan mode". Since the level of corrections required to make them follow the wiki guidelines meant rewriting the text almost completely, it was easier for me to just revert what I didn't have time to fix.
I invite you to read our Manual of Style and to take a look at the corrections I made to the edits.
In Levi's page, trivia section it's written that his name mean "attached" or "joining."
While being true, I thought readers of this Wiki would like to know some more crucial details regarding the name Levi:
Levi is one of the 12 Hebrew tribes, and it's the only one which doesn't have its own land. They had a unique roll: to guard the Temple's gates and to assist the monks in it (the Cohens, which are also from Levi tribe). Ther were the only one to function the Temple.
It's kind of funny to see Levi's duty to guard the temple's gates (historically ) and Levi's duty to guard the wall (in the anime).
I don't know how to edit stuff (I'm new here) so I messeged you about it.
Hello, welcome to the wiki. I believe that it may be a little far-fetched to relate this fact with Levi's role in the story. Levi's role is not to guard the Walls, that's the Garrison's duty, the Survey Corps explore the outside and try to find information on the Titans; so it doesn't seem that this information about the Biblical Levi would be relevant to add to the character's page.
Hi there, for bots are you aware of anything that can convert .jpg images to .png? Figure it would be far easier to convert them en masse rather than download, convert then re-upload, as fun filled as that is. Just unsure if such a feature has even been created though.
It's possible, but not easy and not practical, and not necessary either.
We don't really mind about the format of the images but about the quality. We regularly use PNG since this format by default preserves the quality better, but JPG is also acceptable if it's not compressed. Converting JPG to PNG will not magically increase the quality, only the size.
PNG is only obligatory in certain templates for technical reasons, but all of those templates are already using this format, so no conversion is required.
“It’s possible” is all that is needed! Though everything is lovely and established here, if not just for Attack on Titan then converting images on other wikis would be extremely handy so I do hope you may share the process.
Just to throw a monkey wrench into the works to make things more challenging (it just makes it even more fun!) The bot in mind was a JS based bot. Whether it is the regular program, or JS script, so long as there is a working method for one, surely it could be worked to apply for the other.
If you have a spare moment, whether here or on the Fandom Developers Wiki it would be brilliant if you could explain how it is done. A working method, one that could be refined, made workable for different bots; being able to convert images on the wikis themselves would be like an ultimate amazing thing to be able to do!
Would really appreciate it if you could please help me with this significant advancement : )
I'm sure that almost everyone in the dev wiki have an idea of how to do this and probably some better methods than what I have in mind; but if you want me to tell you how I would do it, you'd require this:
Option for the user to input the list of images to convert (or fetching it via the API according to certain parameters, like getting all images of a certain format).
Afterwards, the script gets the list of all pages each image is included in.
The script uploads the converted image to the wiki and copies its file information.
It replaces the file in all pages that were using the old one.
Finally, it deletes the old image (meaning it'd require to be run from an account with Content Moderator rights at the least).
Turns out even there it’s not exactly common knowledge; you are the light in the dark here!

Yes please and thank you,
1. Something like the find and replace script could see to that. When adding categories or adding/removing, say “File:” it can list the images and 2. treats the image the same across the pages it can be found, so those options appear all good and established in JS ready to apply.
3. Yes it largely rests on having JS to actually convert… converters run the gauntlet from changing hundreds of images at a time at once… to twenty at a time really slowly, that you have to tend to otherwise it cancels XD I’ll see if there is already a standard one on Fandom, or if it needs to be created. For adding categories and templates and the like, the timer is established to keep things nice and gradual so that should be able to be applied here. It is a LOT of images so good points about making use of the cloud to bear in mind.
4. 5. And 6. Could be a separate thing all together, excellent idea to combine them, the mass delete is something to go on for removing the jpg. ones. At least that is something that for sure is real; hopefully the others can be made/discovered. A script to upload images would be a major prize. The multiple photo uploader is nice and all, just need something more heavy duty in general for image uploads!
This is all fantastic stuff to go on and looks doable where I would have thought it would be impractical before. I’ll take this excellent start to the Dev Wiki and if things go even better than planned, even if it’s all gravy here I hope my heartfelt thanks for you help is a nice return!
I believe there is a short waiting period after registering an account during which you cannot make edits (to prevent people from making quickie throw away accounts). You should be able to edit in a day or two.
