Samuel Linke-Jackson (サムエル・リンケ-ジャクソン Samueru Rinke-Jakuson^?) is a former soldier of the Scout Regiment who defected to join the Jaegerists.

Appearance

Samuel is a young man of average build and height, with dark brown hair and silver-colored eyes. His complexion is slightly tanned, and his hair is parted in the center with bangs and faint sideburns. He wore the typical uniform of the 104th Cadet Corps with a light green shirt underneath.

As of the year 854 his appearance has been left largely unchanged. As part of the Scout Regiment he can be seen wearing the new Scout uniform.

Personality

Little is known about Samuel's personality. He appears to be a fairly normal young man, concerned for the well-being of his friends and eager to join in celebrations.

By the year 854 Samuel seems to have developed radical tendencies. He is among the Scout soldiers who openly rejoice at having launched a successful attack on Marley, despite the casualties they suffered in the process. In response to Eren Jaeger being imprisoned for acting against military orders, Samuel is one of the many soldiers who choose to rebel and help break him out of prison.

Story

Humanity's Comeback arc

On his first day in the 104th Cadet Corps Samuel is put through Keith Sadies' traditional hazing process, mocking him for having a stupid name.^[1]

Distress

Samuel takes part in a team navigation exercise in a group led by Thomas Wagner. Part way into the exercise, the group notices its ODM gear had been stolen. In response, they speed up their pace to warn the other group. They find the other group in the midst of a conflict with a gang of thieves and help disarm the thieves.^[2]

The Struggle for Trost arc

On the day after the 104th Cadet Corps' graduation, Samuel's team is sent to clean the cannons mounted along to the top of Wall Rose in Trost District. The group discuss which branch they intend to join and Sasha Braus reveals that she has stolen meat from the officers' rations. Initially fearing punishment for the theft, the group eventually decide to partake in it with Sasha.

The sudden appearance of the Colossal Titan causes all of the cadets to be knocked off the Wall, and Samuel is knocked unconscious by flying debris. He is saved by Sasha, who catches him by launching one of her Omni-directional mobility gear hooks into his lower calf.^[3]

Eve of the Counterattack arc

The 104th cadets attend a Scout Regiment recruitment ceremony. Samuel is one of many cadets who refuse to join the scouts after hearing their high mortality rates.

Marley arc

Samuel participates in the Scout Regiment's Raid on Liberio in the year 854. As the Scouts retreat from the battle Samuel joins his comrades in celebrating their overwhelming victory against Marley. Their celebrations are interrupted by a girl boarding the airship and shooting Sasha Braus, prompting Samuel and the others to beat her and her companion mercilessly.^[4]

War for Paradis arc

After Eren Jaeger escapes from his military-sanctioned imprisonment, Samuel is among the soldiers who join him in defecting from the military. The rebels rendezvous with Eren himself outside of the city and Eren declares that their next objective will be to find and team up with Zeke.^[5]

Trivia

His name could be a reference to the American actor Samuel L. Jackson.
Samuel and Peaure share the same Japanese voice actor.
