The Survival Expedition arc is the seventh and final story arc of the Attack on Titan prequel series, Before the Fall.
Introduction
The preparations have been made and the fateful day of the Survey Corps expedition has finally arrived. The soldiers are ready to bravely ride out beyond the Walls for the first time in years. With the future of the Survey Corps in the hands of mostly untested new recruits, will they be able to step up to the challenge and lead the Survey Corps to see another day?

 As the Survey Corps begin the expedition, Jorge reveals that this expedition has two ultimate goals: to test the vertical maneuvering equipment against Titans and to produce maps of the area so the Survey Corps can one day track where the Titans ultimately come from. As the rear teams recuperate, Kuklo and Rosa notice a signal flare from up ahead signaling the presence of Titans; however, the rain begins to fall once again as soon as the flare is sent, causing the smoke to disappear.

 Carlo is told the fates of teams seven and eight, but is glad to hear the vertical maneuvering equipment was successful in killing a few Titans. When another red signal flare is sent, Carlo orders all surviving soldiers to mobilize, and they end up battling a five meter Titan. Meanwhile, Kuklo goes off to find Xavi and is nearly killed by him in an ambush. The two foes prepare for a final fight that will settle their long running feud.

 Xavi and Kuklo trade blows and Xavi reveals the root of his hatred of the Titan's Son; he also mentions a secret about Sharle that stuns Kuklo. Their duel is interrupted by the arrival of Ogre and Kuklo must now fight for his life against the Titan that killed his parents. At the camp, Rosa and team ten combat a five meter Titan and are overcome with horror when Ogre appears near their camp as well.
