- Attack on Titan Anthology
Taki is a squad leader in the Survey Corps. She is the protagonist of Live and Let Die, the fifth short story of the Attack on Titan Anthology.
Appearance
Taki is a small young woman with brown eyes and long cherry brown hair. She wears the standard uniform of the Survey Corps with a white shirt underneath.
Story
In an expedition beyond Wall Rose, Taki and her squad battle with Abnormal Titans as Commander Erwin leads a retreat through heavy rainfall. Much to her squad's surprise, the Titans appear to be herding them against the nearby cliffs. As she leads a counterattack, her squad mate Walker strays from the group and is eaten by a Titan with transparent flesh.[1]
Taki attempts to strike at the Titan, but a bolt of lightning sends her flying off, away from the area. As she lies motionless against a tree branch, a mysterious stranger in tattered clothes nonchalantly asks her if she is dead.[2]
Taki awakes later to find a group of people but passes out again. When she awakes again, she is attached to a sled and led towards a cavern with a Titan following. It tries to grab her but fails, and Taki passes out again.[3]
When she wakes up, a blonde woman is at her side, helping her. Taki asks her who she is and where they are. The woman makes a bandage for her, introduces herself as Kelly and answers Taki's questions. Taki then notices a child among the group. As she asks if they found the kid, a man further tells about their personal story and why do they live outside the Walls. Kelly then shows Taki a map of the outside world she made and asks about the Walls. Taki tells her they currently are in Wall Maria territory and that it fell a few years ago. She then proposes them to go back to the Walls, arguing it would be safer but the man refuses it.[4]
A Titan suddenly appears, having found their underground lair and they all escape outside. Taki engages the fight against a horde of Titans but falls. She is saved by Kelly who throws her a grappling hook. Witnessing Marcus getting killed, she faces the Titan who killed him and helps having it killed. After the battle, Taki sits, saddened by Marcus's death.[5]
Later on, Kelly shows Taki the path to take to get back to the Walls. Acknowledging she is unable to convince them to go with her, Taki leaves, heading to the Walls.[6]
Trivia
- According to Michael Avon Oeming, author and illustrator of "Live and Let Die," Taki was named after his wife Taki Soma, who added color to the artwork with Michael.[7]
