The Scouting Legion page says there's only 4 squad leaders. Adding Darius makes 5. Levi, Hanji, and Mike are definitely locked, so is Ness or Darius the 4th leader? --Qazqaz555 21:49, October 3, 2013 (UTC)
When/where was it said he was a squad leader?09:19, October 4, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, idk where does that info come from. But if we are going for the Buntaichou (分隊長 Squad Leader) title, then neither Levi, Ness or Darius qualify, since characters refer to Levi as Heichou (兵長 Captain?) and to Ness and Darius as Hanchou (班長 Team Leader), the last being the same title Ian, Mitabi and Rico also share. hfc2X 09:47, October 4, 2013 (UTC)
And squad =/= team? Because this was referred to as a squad, with Levi its leader. Though what I am missing here is Darius being ever called any leader. 09:53, October 4, 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I changed the template. And no, squad =/= team in japanese. Hanchō refers to leaders of those small squads they form in some situations like the 57th expedition formation or the defense of Trost. They are usually higher-rank or older soldiers who can be put in charge of younger ones. Hell, even Sasha refers to one unnamed dude who saves her from a Titan as "Hanchō". Ness and Darius are actually this.
- Buntaichō on the other hand, is different, for it refers to a more permanent rank. So far, we only know of Hanji and Mike having this rank, and I believe the info we have refers to this rank, meaning them both and other two soldiers we don't know of.
- And finally Levi. Since his article mentions he is Heishichō, that would make him something like a second-in-command of the Scouting Legion, hence NOT a squad leader. Yes, he is in charge of the Special Operations Squad, but that's because he has the authority. He informally becomes a Hanchō in that situation, but not a Buntaichō.
