Updating her Story

With the release of Chapter 65, there is quite a bit of info that could be added to her Story section. Perhaps someone can update this section to be in line with the latest chapter? 108.85.42.51 00:42, January 23, 2015 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for commenting! We appreciate your interest in this page and the Shingeki no Kyojin wiki. As you may have noticed, an edit was made today that filled in chapter 51. We are aware of the missing information and are doing our best to catch these pages up.--PrelateZeratul (talk) 01:45, January 23, 2015 (UTC)

Name

Should her page really be of her "real" name?? Considering it's actually massive spoilers for late in the series, and she has still been referred to as Krista/Christa by everyone even after her reveal? Aetropos (talk) 21:32, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Yes it should, it's her official name. Also this wiki isn't spoiler free, nor is any manga/anime wiki in my knowledge. I should make a sig..

But she still has only been referred to as Christa/Krista in the series by characters who are at least implied to know her "real name", so isn't it going far to assume the best name for her page is her "real name"? I don't see why it couldn't be listed as her real name on the side bar or under her story, with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags are kind of a thing I've seen on other manga/anime wiki, in my knowledge. I just think that a series which is still developing and growing in popularity due to an anime which is far behind in the manga, should at least try to be less blatant about it's huge spoilers. Aetropos (talk) 22:44, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Should be kept to Christa only. Try google her name, first thing you come upon is that her name isn't actually Christa. You don't even have to visit the wiki to be spoiled just googling the characters name is enough.

Fyerbrand (talk) 11:01, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

And I was proven right, a lot of Anime only Watchers got spoiled just googling Christa.Fyerbrand (talk) 19:17, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

Edited the Trivia upon seeing the last entry for that.Yes Historia is spanish for History but as well in other languages.Swedish,Finnish,Portugese,Latin.Probably other ones as well.Think it's best not to pick out just one of those.Fyerbrand (talk) 21:57, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

You seem to have a misspelling in her name, it's actually Krista Lenz instead of Christa Renz Funamation and Crunchyroll seem to stick with that, and as well the offical merchandise has her name spelt like that. Nyanaba (talk) 16:28, September 28, 2013 (UTC)

We will wait till official DVD/BRs are released then.  Miskos3 Talk  17:31, September 28, 2013 (UTC)

Kodansha name

Despite it just being an alias, it seems Kodansha addresses her as Krista Lenz instead of Christa Renz. Is it alright to make the change or was there a discussion held previously to not change it?  Umnei  Talk  11:50, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, it's supposed to be changed to Krista Lenz but I've not been around into changing it. hfc2X 17:21, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
I knew I forgot about something when running the bot other day. I'll do it... Eventually D:  Miskos3 Talk  21:58, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

~Abilities~

I have a question. How come only Historia and Ymir have two Statistics? And the others have only one? I get that Bertolt, Reiner, and Annie have two because one's their human form and the other is their titan form.Jennicious (talk) 20:10, December 19, 2013 (UTC)

The new stats come from a promotional set of character jumbo cards (see reference or this). In fact, Bertolt also has new stats, but I can't find a proper pic of his card. hfc2X 21:00, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
But can we really simply list contradicting stats like this? Are the meanings of the bar really exactly the same as the guidebook's stats aside from the last one? Which of the stats are "more official"? Maybe we should just use one of them, if they contradict each other like that. On another note, why is one of the stats named "Historia Reiss's stats" and the other one "Krista Lenz's stats"? NeoSuperior (talk) 00:42, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
I don't see where is this such a big issue. I mean, it's just like in video games, same characters have different stats in different games of the same franchise. Same logic applies here, different pieces of media list different things. To be honest, all this "stats" thing applied to characters in a story is pure BS imo, but we have to list what appears on official material, even if it contradicts itself.
And, on the Krista Lenz thing, it's because what appears on the promo card is 「クリスタ・レンズ」, not 「ヒストリア・レイス」. hfc2X 01:09, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

I propose removing all those stats from articles altogether.  Miskos3 Talk  01:10, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

And I propose also removing birthday dates, because they are among the same doubtful quality crap as the stats. hfc2X 01:13, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
But unlike the stats, birthdays aren't contradicted by any other official source that would be on the same level of importance as manga and guidebooks. Actually, if I were to put it this way, then Guidebook stats > Promotional set stats. So either remove both of them for contradicting each other or keep only the Guidebook ones, for those being of utmost importance as any manga material takes precedence for us.  Miskos3 Talk  01:25, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

I would disagree with removing the birth dates, for multiple reasons. Like Miskos3 stated, they aren't contradicted anywhere else. And several of them are very clearly selected to illustrate something about the character, or as a reference. Historia's birth date, for example, is Coming of Age Day, celebrating Japanese youth becoming adults. It has significance to her character, and the development she's been undergoing in the story.

--Harostar (talk) 08:43, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Ever since this wiki decided to use Kodansha's names, "references to real life/myths etc." are just trivia level content here NeoSuperior (talk) 09:29, December 21, 2013 (UTC)
.....but Kodansha is official, and as such the wiki should bow to official sources rather than what fandom wants. And yes, references would be considered a Trivia piece unless it comes up in the story itself. So Historia's birth date being a real life Holiday is Trivia and belongs there unless they discuss such a Holiday existing in the series' proper. --Harostar (talk) 10:08, December 21, 2013 (UTC)
I don't disagree. For consistency's sake I just wanted to remind that even if such additional information is "significant for a character's development", it is still just trivia.
IMO the birth dates are not being contradicted by either higher or same level sources, so, just like with anime fillers being considered canon if they don't contradict the manga or the "word of god", this should be part of the articles as well. NeoSuperior (talk) 10:44, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, okay. It sounds like miscommunication is all. I wasn't saying it was anything other than trivia. I just think it's kind of neat how many things Isayama sneaked in, and it's a fun piece of trivia. Unless it gets directly mentioned in the manga, it really doesn't belong anywhere else.

(I actually was worried you were connecting the Kodansha thing in a negative manner as some fans have concerning not liking the official spellings.) --Harostar (talk) 13:04, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Nobility?

Should we considered her as part of the Nobility category? While she does not live within the inner walls, have lots of money or act like a noble, she is of 'noble blood'. PrelateZeratul (talk) 00:09, April 12, 2014 (UTC)

Her relationship with Ymir

On the wiki page it states that Historia and Ymir are a couple, taken from the anime producer's words, but I believe, as many others that you're misinterpreting what he wanted to say - more accurate translation of the german word he used to describe their relationship would be "that they're indeed lovebirds", which confirms that they both share mutual feelings, and in fact are not yet a couple.

I can back this up by multiple manga panels where Historia expresses her disbelief and general misunderstanding of Ymir's intentions. I'm not sure how the translation exactly went, but she states that she "doesn't understand why being with Ymir gives her bravery", or the one where she laments to Eren that "nobody ever loved her".

It just seems very, very unlikely to me that a hollow person like Historia who ha no sense of "self" can engage in a romantic relationship without it feeling like it was some kind of exploatation from Ymir's side. I know they both deeply care for each other, but the evidence in the manga, and whole analasys of her character don't support the supposed claim that they're a couple.

So I think you might be confusing a lot of people by stating that they're a couple. Yes, they are romanticaly linked, they love each other, but they haven't reached a relationship stage yet, mainly because of Historia's unawarness and emotional issues. Pwnagekitten (talk) 14:31, August 21, 2014 (UTC)

Citation for Ace Combat and the One Shot.

That was in the Brutus Magazine which had like 100 pages worth of information.Only thing I can provide is a link to a post from a forum, if that is okay.  Link to the post It's post 1382.Not sure how or even if I could use that.Fyerbrand (talk) 23:50, November 22, 2014 (UTC)

Family

Why do Historia's parents hate her? What is it about her that made them despise her?Fire Eater (talk) 06:09, January 22, 2016 (UTC)

It likely has to do with her birth being unintentional on Rod's part, and the cause of Alma's removal from the Reiss estate. Her existence is a constant reminder to Rod and Alma, as well as other people who care, that she is the product of infidelity. As well as a failed attempt for Alma to move up in status and live a life of luxury. At least, that's how I understood it. EternalLocket (talk) 07:16, January 22, 2016 (UTC)
Can't say I feel bad for either of them dying in the manga. Alma especially is just a nasty piece of work. And is Rod a homeland operative?Fire Eater (talk) 07:18, January 24, 2016 (UTC)
I doubt it, if that were the case, Rod could have convinced his brother or daughter to go to the homeland. If the Riess family is originally from the homeland, it'd be more likely that they're fugitives for having taken the Coordinate. EternalLocket (talk) 08:22, January 24, 2016 (UTC)

Updated manga image

It's about time we changed Historia's manga image to a one where she's wearing her formal Queen attire. I got the perfect one, except that I had to edit it because of interfering text. I know in these cases we use the raws, but it's even worse because the text is bigger.

The edited version I'm proposing as a replacement for the current image: http://i.imgur.com/nphAjHG.png AhmedHadi1 (talk) 10:01, February 9, 2017 (UTC)

I support this picture. That's the best recent image we have of Historia in her queen attire. It may be a pre-timeskip picture, but it's enough until we get a post-timeskip version in future issues.--Manuel de la Fuente (talk) 15:00, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
I actually propose this cropped version instead: http://i.imgur.com/Qyn3CoC.png--Manuel de la Fuente (talk) 22:09, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
