Lady.... Ymir... Well... Met... | ||
— a Titan mistakes Ilse for Ymir[1] |
The Talking Titan was a former member of a cult that followed "Lady Ymir" before she was turned into a mindless Titan when the group was discovered by a force of soldiers.
Appearance
Human
This woman appeared to be a young lady with short blonde hair and bright gray eyes.
Titan
Her Titan form was about 6-7 meters tall, had a very large head for its body size, a mouth with constantly exposed teeth, and short blond hair similar to its human form.
History
As a member of the cult of "Lady Ymir," this woman worshiped a girl who was brought into the cult by its leader and given the name "Ymir." However, when the cult was discovered by a force of soldiers, the woman was taken through the streets with the rest of the cultists and Ymir herself until they were sent to a remote borderline where they were all turned into mindless Titans.[2]
Story
Ilse's Notebook: Notes from a Scout Regiment Member
During the 34th expedition beyond the Walls as Ilse Langnar flees towards human territory, this Titan finds her and corners her against a tree. Rather than eating her, it instead stares at her until, to her amazement, it speaks. The talking Titan speaks of her as "a subject of Ymir" and afterward addresses her as "Lady Ymir" before greeting her with a formal bow. As Ilse begins to question the Titan of its origins and purpose, the Titan becomes increasingly uncomfortable, groaning and eventually pulling at the skin of its own face. As Ilse becomes afraid and flees, the Titan grabs her and crushes her head in its jaws, killing her. As she dies, the Titan begins to weep. The Titan then leaves Ilse's body within a hollowed tree, seemingly in respect.
The Titan is later found by Hange Zoë during the 49th expedition beyond the Walls. It attempts to flee to the forest where Ilse's body was left, but shortly afterward it attempts to kill Hange and Oruo Bozad before being killed by Captain Levi.[1]
Abilities
This Titan was able to speak words with meaning to Ilse Langnar. It also could display emotions which regular Titans lack, such as reverence, anguish, and perhaps fear.
