  • At the conclusion of chapter #83, it seems as if we are presented with a choice between saving Armin and Erwin, implying that one of them is going to die. However, I'm sure that al-*ahem* I mean the majority of manga followers would much rather both survive the terrible ordeals they've been through, even if it seems unlikely.

In any case, the word 'unlikely' loses its intended meaning when it comes to AoT (look at how many people were brought back from the dead this chapter!) to the point that it's entirely possible that both of them make it out of this alive through some miracle.

So if it happens, how do you think both Armin and Erwin can be saved? Put your ideas here, the wilder and crazier the better! :P Kudos to you if you guess it right!

    • Impossible. xP

I honestly would like Armin to die. It seemed like a bad idea the last month, but in light of his totally illogical survival, now I just wish he would die. But it's clear that Erwin will be the one losing the Titan Serum Civil War. This series needs a main character dying to be taken more seriously, and if it's not Armin, then let Erwin die. ^_^

    • Honestly, if i was Armin i would want to die at this point. being grilled in 602 degrees and falling 50 meters.

Anyways. As i remember Rod Reiis only licked SOME of the spilled serum up, which btw was enough to transform him into the biggest titan known to this date.

Just give Erwin half and Armin half... no wait... give Erwin 33% Armin 33% and Sasha... who cares about Sasha anyways...

    • The problem is that Rod's transformation went awry precisely due to not using the serum properly. He said he had chosen a Titan form suitable to fight, but he instead turned into an Abnormal that walked dragging his face on the ground and who was not even interested in the humans around. It would be very difficult to feed him a Shifter in those circumstances; and probably that form was just one of many possible aberrations the serum can cause if misused.

    • Since they're smart enough not to share needles, how about they have Armin receive the serum injection and make Erwin ingest it? Most believe that because Rod ingested the serum, he became a Titan larger than the Colossal, but I don't believe Erwin will echo what happened with Rod. He could have a similar reaction, but not the same reaction.

    • Here's what I think will happen. Reiner's going to wake up and tell Zeke that the SC have a Titan serum in their possession. Realizing that they are about to gain the power of the Colossal Titan, Zeke decides that he must put a stop to this before they eat Bertolt.

He rushes down on top of his Titan mount, and pounces on Levi's group just as they are about to inject Armin as per a recently awakened Erwin's instructions. Zeke attempts to snatch Bertolt away, but is foiled by the arrival of Hange and Jean, who pull Bertolt out of Zeke's line of attack.

Zeke then turns around and sees the Titan serum in Levi's hand. He lunges at Levi (who is out of gas), but Eren intervenes and plunges his blade deep into the Quad Titan's right eye, causing it to miss Levi.

Realizing his attack has failed and that he is outnumbered, Zeke attempts to retreat, but is now faced with an oncoming Mikasa, who uses the last of her gas to try and kill Zeke. Just as Mikasa's blade is about to slice into Zeke's throat, the Quad Titan makes a sharp turn, causing Mikasa's blade to miss Zeke, but slice through the ropes holding the barrels instead. A few of the barrels are dislodged, and falling to the ground they burst open, revealing...

That's right, MORE Titan serum, brought to you by the homeland itself! How else did you think that Zeke was able to transform those poor humans back at Connie's hometown and create his army here at Shiganshina?

So now the SC will have the means of saving both Armin and Erwin by transforming them into dumb titans. As for the Titan shifter step, it will be another tough decision for them. After eating Bertolt, they still need 1 more shifter, and I don't think Zeke or Reiner are going to stick around to get eaten. Perhaps Annie might be the next logical choice ?

This is an impressive idea of what could happen, but can I ask you why you think that we'll see Annie again in the next chapter?

    • I don't think Annie will come into the story so soon. I was thinking more along the lines of the SC restraining the transformed Titan with the help of Eren and bringing it back inside the walls. They might consider having Erwin/Armin in Titan form eat Annie then.

You mean, share Annie's spinal fluid?

Nope, one of them would have eaten Bertolt by that point, so we are left with only 1 dumb Titan to turn into a shifter.

I'm just hoping that something like that does happen.

Dude, you gotta have faith in Armin's chances to survive. :)

    • Give 'em each half the serum?? :P

Or... use the serum on one of them, and with the other they could  possiblly use Bertolt's blood for a blood transfusion to turn them into a Titan?

Just asking, but do you really think a blood transfusion will trigger a Titan transformation in an ordinary person? It has been said the power of the Titans resides in the spinal fluid. Why not try and extract B.'s spinal fluid and give it to Erwin?

    • As much as I love Armin, there has been way too much use of plot armor in this series. He needs to die. He should already be dead.

Where's your faith in miracles, CaptFredricks? He might die later, but he shouldn't just yet. As much as I don't want to even say it, he could die in a chapter that's seven future chapters away.

He should be dead because nobody could have survived getting their skin burned off and falling 30 - 40 meters onto a hard roof of a building. It's plot armor, plain and simple.

Erwin, on the other hand, while his injuries are severe, it is entirely plausible for him to be alive.

I love Armin, don't get me wrong, but I believe it's his time to go.

    • We can look at this question - who gets the serum, from the point - what consequences both* variants will have.

It was quite clear for me, that Erwin would be one of the option (since the chapter 81). If Armin died right away we would not have this dilemma and we would not have this conflict inside Levi squad. This is why, I doubt that both Erwin and Armin will survive. This would make all the previous chapters just useless.

If Erwin dies, we will lose Levi. If Armin dies it will strike Eren and Mikasa very hard and they may lose their respect to Levi.

There is another, very shitty option - both of them die. Levi squad remains more or less united, but noone gets Berthold for dinner.

    • I have another comment:

I don't think Armin will survive, because Levi has is in charge of the serum, and he more than likely won't use it on Armin -- because Armin isn't of much use to Levi, whereas he has extreme respect for Erwin, and also puts his faith into him. Plus, I also think Erwin would be more of a help than Armin (sorry, Armin).

I hope Mikasa and Levi don't fight. Given their situation, it would be stupid for them to fight.

    • If they both recieve the serum, then they will each have to eat a titan shifter to gain their power, meaning Reiner would have to be found before anything can happen. So I personally think Armin is going to be the one to survive, as he kind of needs to see the ocean and escape to freedom for the series to complete its purpose :/

Which is why I say this for those that aren't Titan Shifters: Never underestimate their abilities. I believe in Armin, even if he doesn't have special powers.

    • This is how I'd like this choice to play out:

      Bertolt gets the serum

Bertolt destroys the serum, by @waynecs-tdk

    • Haha now ain't that hilarious the syringe broke inside the kit but they can always try oral administration (yeah yeah I remember Titan Rod) since I don't see the serum vial, Bertolt ain't out of the woods just yet.

    • I think a drop of serum won't change the effect. So, they should left some drops for Erwin to test even he would turn into a dumb titan (not like Rod cuz it's not ingested) because they still have Eren to hold that titan and take Erwin out. They have time for Eren to restore energy to turn into titan since Erwin's titan will be a dumb. They should make a gamble and there's nth to lose. Sry 4 my grammar
