(I proposed this for the chapter poll earlier this month, but no one seemed to notice, so...thought I'd put it here instead.)
Okay, now we all know that Mikasa is almost certainly (around 90% with a generous 10% for Isayama wild card) going to try to do something to save Armin. That's because Mikasa has an established history of loyalty to her friends, and lets her heart rule over her head when they are threatened(case in point: she tried to attack Levi in the middle of a court hearing, like wow).
But what if you were in Mikasa's position, with the benefit of all the time in the world and the facts laid out in front of you?
You see your childhood friend and dearly want to save him as your heart tells you to, but then you turn and look at the commander, the man who has done so much for humanity, the architect behind the operation that sealed Wall Maria and brought down the Armored, Colossal and Beast Titans. His experience, intellect, and leadership is absolutely essential to rebuilding the devastated Survey Corps and to launch a new offensive against the homeland. However you look at it, saving Erwin would give humanity the best chance of defeating the Titans in the future.
So what would your choice be, if you were in Mikasa's shoes? Do you listen to your heart or your head? Or would you be at a loss?
