Titan (Live-Action)

Titans (巨人 Kyojin^?, lit. "Giant(s)") are a species of giant man-eating humanoids that appeared and ended the world 100 years ago. They are transformed humans mutated by Wraith or infected with a virus, increasing their size and making them into mindless man-eating beasts.

Appearance[]

Titans resemble humans, albeit nude and much larger. They have the same features as humans but can be deformed depending on the individual Titan. All Titans have a pale skin color and have wide teeth, used to chew on humans.

Creation[]

Though their exact origin is unknown, Titans appear to originate from humans infected by a virus, which transformed them into said mindless beasts. As shown by Shikishima, Titans originated from experimentation done on humans by various nations to create the perfect soldiers designed to be hardy in battle, using a serum known as Wraith. It is presumed that experimentation from this serum eventually somehow led to a virus that spread around the world, creating more Titans.

Physiology[]

The nature of Titans is quite bizarre, as they violate every known rule and law of nature. They seem to be light despite their size, as shown when Souda grabbed and threw a Titan. They do not appear to eat or drink aside from consuming humans, though not out of hunger. They generate steam and regenerate injuries quickly, and do not appear to tire or exhaust with the exception of night when they become inactive (theorized to be due to the lack of sunlight). Peculiarly, in spite of their large numbers, they do not reproduce and lack any sex organs at all.

History[]

Roughly 100 years ago, Titans were created by the governments of rival countries aiming to create supersoldiers for use in war. However, this backfired and spread a deadly virus amongst the global populace which turned some people into Titans. These giant mindless creatures wreaked havoc on the world and on humanity, sowing distrust between people out of fear that the person next to them could become one.

This eventually led to a war attempting to exterminate the Titans, the Great Titan War, which, however, did little to decrease the numbers of Titans. Instead, humanity suffered immeasurable losses and were driven to the point of near extinction.

At some point during or after the conflict, three massive Walls were raised in Japan to protect the populace from the hordes of Titans spreading outside, and to create a peaceful society separate from all the chaos.

100 years later, humanity within the Walls is prospering and the citizens of the Walls are living mundane lives, only knowing of the Titans through old legends passed down from generation to generation.

Trivia[]

During the scene where Shikishima shows Eren footage of the world 100 years prior, a group of soldiers and military officials can be seen in uniform witnessing the first creation of the Titan. These soldiers' uniforms resemble that of the military of China.
