Work, Military Police Brigade! (働け!! 憲兵団 Hatarake!! Kenpeidan?) is the 2nd chapter of the 2nd volume and the 29th chapter overall of the Spoof on Titan manga, written and illustrated by hounori.

Overview

The Stohess Military Police Brigade struggles with paperwork.

Summary

Hitch and her comrades are standing around a table covered in paperwork. Hitch is shocked that Military Police recruits are expected to do so much work, saying that she thought the career was going to be easy. In response, Marlowe states that most of the officers delegate all of their work to recruits. Marlowe notices that there are four stacks of documents, so he recommends that each member of the group work on one stack. Hitch claims that her stack is the biggest, but Boris points out that any difference is negligible. Hitch tries to hand Boris some of her workload, but he rejects it. Boris then notices Annie's stack, which is shorter than Hitch's. Boris takes some of Annie's stack; this causes Hitch to angrily repeat Boris' claim, that any difference is negligible, at a considerably higher volume than Boris's.

Boris realizes that he was filling the forms out incorrectly, and he decides that nobody will notice the mistakes. Hearing Boris' comments, Hitch also reviews her work. Realizing that she made similar mistakes, she agrees with Boris' conclusion. Marlowe, irritated at their mistakes, begins rhythmically tapping his foot and glaring at Boris. Hitch and Boris confront Marlowe over distracting them, causing Marlowe to confront them over their mistakes. Marlowe points to Annie as an example, working silently beside the rest of the group. Hitch stands behind Annie, mimicking her voice as if Annie is bored and tired. Annie kicks Hitch. Hitch collapses on the floor in pain, screaming that it was just a joke. Annie thinks to herself that the joke wasn't too far from the truth.

Dennis opens the door to find the group working, asking them if they are working hard. Marlowe responds that the large amount is going to take them even more time. Dennis says to relax and slow down, as they probably aren't used to this much work. Marlowe contemplates the irony of Dennis' seemingly good-natured statement, as they are already working overtime. Dennis reveals a box of donuts, asking them to take a break. Hitch is excited over the treat, and Marlowe thanks Dennis for his kindness. Dennis tells them they don't need to thank him, because he bought them with the rewards of his gambling endeavors during the day. Dennis enthusiastically asks the recruits if they want to hear about his card playing highlights, causing one of the recruits to loudly refuse.

Dennis notices that Hitch is the slowest of the group, and pulls up a chair next to her. He offers to assist her and then remarks on how he did the exact same work when he was a recruit. After completing a single form, Dennis pulls out a flask and opens it. Marlowe furiously demands to know what Dennis is drinking. Dennis' lax reply doesn't satisfy Marlowe, so Marlowe heatedly claims that Dennis can't handle the drudgery sober.

Hitch notices that Dennis is drunk and unconscious. Marlowe grabs Dennis and begins to take him home, noting that Dennis is their superior. Hitch and Boris celebrate Marlowe's integrity, causing Marlowe to rebuff their claims. Marlowe says that he will be coming back once he has returned Dennis home. With Marlowe gone, Hitch pleads with Boris to leave all of the remaining work for Marlowe and leave. Before Boris can respond, Marlowe returns, mentioning that he forgot his jacket.
